Darren Burgett was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1974and has been involved in art most of his life. Surrealism is the primary influence of his unique and creative photography. ********Artist Statement********

My appreciation for surrealism began with the introduction to the concept of utilizing ordinary objects in unusual ways to expand the various states of the perceiving mind. Exploring the unexpected juxtapositions in the hidden unconscious is one of my formulas in developing methods to liberate imagination. The combination of my original photographs and digital adjustments is my outlet for communicating the profound essence of surrealism.

Fascinated with the idea to improve one self with self observation, I continue to practicing introspection. As a result, ideas and images are revealed to my awareness, free of the conscious control of reason and free of convention. I am compelled to apply these ideas to works of art when I have a strong connection to them. Though the images come to my unconscious, producing the work involves quite a bit of focus and concentration. However keeping an open mind allows the piece to have a voice of its own.

Currently I am attempting to convey the spiritual connection between human growth and nature using the theme of being a part of our surroundings.
